From William McGurn in his Wall Street Journal editorial here:

For those who have dealt with him, Mr. Gingrich presents an oddly captivating figure. Where Ronald Reagan was the Teflon president for the way that attacks never seemed to stick to him, Mr. Gingrich is like the blob from some horror movie, absorbing everything shot at him without stopping.

Adapting an old lawyer joke …

Q: Why do they bury members of the Republican establishment 12 feet underground?

A: Because down deep they’re really good!

A letter to the Wall Street Journal from Wayne Westbrook of Simsbury, CT:

Regarding your editorial “The Solyndra Rule” (Jan. 30): President Obama says of his taxpayer investments, “some technologies don’t pan out, some companies fail.” Sounds like he’s running a private-equity firm with government money. Oops, make that a public-equity firm.
